Battle Up Amanda!

Cancer sucks. It doesn't care who or what you are.  It doesn't care about the color of your skin or the size of your portfolio. It also doesn't care how loved you are.

Tomorrow my aunt Amanda begins her battle against ovarian cancer. There are people I fret over. There are people in this world I worry about.  There are people I pray for. Amanda's never made the list before.  Funny thing cancer.

She has surgery tomorrow from 4-730 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, OR.  She has setup a website at akrportland.com to keep family and friends updated.

Amanda's most visible trait has always been her most beautiful; her strength. I've never met anyone as strong as her.  She's never even bothered to knock the dust off after being knocked down.  She just gets up and walks on. I think cancer picked the wrong fight.

ATA Demonstration

Yesterday Noah's Taekwondo instructor spoke at his school.  The topic was responsibility.  I'm always amazed at Mr. O'Connor's ability to keep kid's engaged and correct behaviors without raising his voice.  Yesterday though, it wasn't 20 kids it was over 300. It didn't seem to be any different. After he spoke, Noah and 3 other boy's in leadership from his school were asked to put on a demonstration for the school.

Noah did great.  He demonstrated a self-defense move that got the crowd excited.  He was a little rockstar. Afterwards a bigger kid stopped us in the hallway to say "You  were awesome!"

When Noah is proud he loses his big smile and gets a little grin on his face with his lips together.  Yesterday his lips were so tight I thought he'd burst from pride.  The kid was right. He was awesome.

Office Floor

I haven't posted anything about it but most of you know we are in the midst of a massive remodel at the house.  We've been on a concrete slab for 5 weeks now.  The floor installers are doing concrete work today and will begin putting down the hardwood tomorrow.  When it's all done I'll have pics and such.

The office however is done now.  The office (aka the Blue Room) has been a multifunctional room since we moved in.  We originally were going to put carpet back in the room.  Then we decided to extend the hardwood into there.  Then we decided to extend the hardwood into our bedroom and wanted something different in there.

So.....here we are installing the new cork flooring last weekend.

Happy 60th Magga (Mom)!!!!

Happy birthday Mom! I love you...but I still have to post the video of the aftermath of your birthday song.  If you ask I'll take it down :)

Christmas Program 2010

Last year you may recall Noah got sick the day of his Christmas program, so this year Jenna has been nervous for the same thing to happen.  Luckily, he didn't get sick so we had the dubious honor of having our first real Christmas program this year.  I didn't get the first part on video (where the boy trains were wound by Santa's helpers) but I did get the last part of their caroling.

The church has a DVD we'll get of the whole program, where you'll get to see Noah yelling out 'Hey Dad!' at the beginning...and 'Hey Mom, hey Cam!' later on.  I'll put that up as a download when I get my copy.

Runnin' with the big boys!

This video just makes me laugh.  Noah was showing me how fast he can run and Campbell decided this was as good of a time as any to try to run for the first time.  The results are comical as she tries to keep up with him.

Warning-File is big so give it time to load.

Let's...call...those...Hogs!!!!!

Campbell is fired up for the Sugar Bowl!!!

Putting up the tree

Unbelievably the Sullivan's not only have their tree up before December, it's up before Thanksgiving baby!!!

Yesterday was the kind of day you dream about.  The kids' were good and agreeable and stuff actually got done.  Last night when we actually started to decorate the tree, Jenna let Noah help out.  It was the kind of thing I'm watching and know she wants it to go a certain way but I'm scared it will go another.  He could have been uninterested or been too focused on the end result, but instead Noah was really into the story of each ornament (or "ordament") which was exactly what she dreamed it would be.  It's her favorite part of Christmas.

My personal favorite was an ornament with a picture inside of Jenna and I running from the church with rose petals in the air.  I showed it to him and he exclaimed, "That's you and Mommy getting married!!!" with glee.

Peek-a-Boo vs. I'm Thankful

Tonight at dinner we have two videos pitted against one another for the title of cutest Sullivan kid.  In corner 1 we have Campbell with her powerful punch of Peek-a-Boo.  In corner 2 we have Noah with his thotally thawesome thankfulness.

Our first Daddy-Daughter Night

Through a quirk of fate and chance, Campbell and I are the only ones home tonight.  Jenna left today for a conference in Dallas and Noah is spending the night with his Annie and Pops.  So I picked my little girl up at 4:30 and the date began.  It started with a game of steamroller in the living room floor and it ended with her asleep on my chest.  The in between is the sort of things ballads are written about.

Happy Birthday Jana!

We tried to call but...well you'll understand one day how hard your family is to get on the phone ;)

Good autumn weekend

Despite my allergies going crazy I love crisp mornings and beautiful afternoons.  Magga came up this weekend and hung out with us and the kids.  Noah loves having her here.  On Friday morning, I caught him straightening the spare room and he informed me he was "getting it ready for Magga." Saturday was tough.  We laid a person dear to us to rest and then had to watch her beloved Hogs go down.  On Sunday, we braved the crowds and went to the corn maze, pumpkin patch, corn cannon, etc. on Hwy. 112.  The corn maze was cool but I'm glad we had a map, because we may still be there without it.  The kid's had a lot of fun but it was exhausting for them.  Magga made it safely home and we geared up for another work week.  Hopefully we'll have a lot of crisp mornings this year.  Not quite ready for icy mornings yet.

Note: Sorry I just published this but there was a photo I wanted to include from Jenna's phone but I just never could coordinate it.

News footage from Alabama game...finally

Here's the quick news footage from tailgating at the Alabama/Arkansas game.  It's funny how it was Cuz's tailgate but he left before his party was filmed.  There's a second bit during the story with Frizzle (Kara) and Cleve front and center with Campbell in the background.
