Princess for a Day-2014

Campbell was offered a ticket to Princess for the Day last weekend.  Girls got to spend time with their favorite princess, have their nails done, makeup done, build crowns, build wands, etc. As much as we dislike the whole princess notion, we can't help but indulge it because she loves it sooooo much.  She went with her buddy Sloane and they had a lot of fun.

Campbell turns 4

It was a rough few weeks for the Sullivan clan and I neglected to wish Campbell a happy birthday.  Our little girl turned 4 right before Thanksgiving.  This year the holiday was later than usual so she didn't have to compete with the turkeys. Her party was at Hopes and Dreams gymnastics and her friends came out in force.  She always loves being the center of attention and people did not disappoint for her.

To Campbell,

Happy birthday baby girl. You're growing so fast your daddy can't catch his breath. I'm so glad your day was special.  All my love.

2013 Fall Family Fun Day

The plan was perfect.  The day was going to be beautiful. We were going to ride our bikes from central Fayetteville on the Razorback trail to the Botanical Gardens and then around Lake Fayetteville. We'd have fresh air, exercise, and get to explore the gardens. Except....

The day was not beautiful. Weatherman got that one wrong.  By the time the clouds dissipated it was turning cold. The Botanical Gardens doesn't take American Express which was the only card we packed in our bag. Then I got not 1, not 2, but 3 flat tires. Two of which required walking to Lewis and Clark.

At the end of it all we persevered.  Jenna rode ahead to get fixes for the bike and the kids and I walked. We just decided to let ourselves in at the Botanical Gardens and make a donation afterwards.  Oddly when we got home we had a fundraiser request from the Botanical Gardens in the mail. As far as the weather, God provided a make up to us with the most unbelievable sunset on the lake.

I made a gallery linked below.  Not many pictures but a couple of fun videos. Overall it was a great day. According to plan or not.

2013 Halloween

The Green's came over for the 7th year in a row to go trick or treating.  I officially declare it a tradition. The older boys are finally old enough to get the scary part of Halloween. They didn't hesitate to go up to the scary houses while Cam clung to her momma's leg. She made it the whole way though and only conned Ron into carrying her one time.

Jenna was slightly disturbed Noah wanted to be the Grim Reaper but at least it wasn't a zombie.  I'm sick of zombies. Campbell was Doc McStuffins and she made sure everyone knew she wasn't the "real" Doc McStuffins. It was only a costume and she can't really fix toys.

Our First Dance

We've danced before but this is the first time she ever held my arm and looked me in the eyes. The song was "Angel" by Jack Johnson. The lyrics sums it up perfectly.
"I've got an angel
She doesn't wear any wings
She wears a heart that can melt my own
She wears a smile that can make me wanna sing
She gives me presents
With her presence alone
She gives me everything I could wish for
She gives me kisses just for coming home."

Friday night is the Croods night

Most animated movies are parent and grandparent fodder to take the kids to do something. Somehow The Crood's escaped my kids eyes until it came out on video.  So Friday night Jenna decided we were going to have movie night.  We got chocolate chip cookies to bake and laid out pillows and sleeping bags on the floor.  We were going to watch Epic but since I was the only one who hadn't seen it I suggested the Croods.  After watching the trailer, the kids were convinced and off to iTunes we went.

How this movie escaped mass market appeal like Shrek and Madagascar I'll never know.  It was really funny for kids.  Not quite as funny for adults as others, but still funny.  During intermission, the kids convinced Jenna to go on a caveman hunt (they run on 4 legs).  There was no way my knees were going to hold up to it so I was the videographer.

Noah the Second Grader and Cam the Preschooler

Another year and another first day of school.  This year our boy goes into the 2nd grade and Campbell begins full time preschool.  So far it's been a lot different.  Since he's in a big kid hallway now I haven't seen him a single time during the day at work.

Both kids walk right in the same self-confidence that I love and hate at the same time.  When I helped Noah take his supplies in the first day I got a wink and "Peace Dad." Seriously. I created you and I get "Peace Dad." Campbell had a little difficulty separating this summer going 2 days but now that everybody is getting up and ready and the morning she knows she's not missing anything. I had to ask her to come back to give me a knuckle pounds this morning.

<sigh>

Love those kids.
