Jana came to visit

Jana came to visit this weekend and the cousins got to meet. Jana was quite taken with Noah the first day and then kind of settled into the routine. Mainly the routine of him eating, sleeping, and pooping. She was actually enamored with the whole breast feeding thing and you could really see the wheels turning when she watched this spectacle unfold.
They had their picture taken together this afternoon and we'll post the pics online when they come in. The proofs will be online so you should be able to see them.

being a new mom

WOW! It has been quite a roller coaster since little Noah was born. I am finally beginning to get my focus and come out of the survival fog! First I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has been keeping up with the Sullivan's via this incredible site my husband has put together. We so appreciate all your love and support and could not have made it through these first two weeks without our wonderful family and friends! Grandparents Johnson and Gramma Gail stayed with us and were a huge help to mommy and Noah. This mommy stuff is "way harder" than my "real" job, but every time those sweet little eyes look up at me, it melts my heart. I love watching him wake up in the mornings and seeing him stretch and yawn. I cannot rush his feeding before his little wake up routine or he gets mad at me. So I have just learned to sit and enjoy the moment. I cannot believe how much he seems to have already grown and changed. He has gained back his birthwieght plus two ounces. So, now he weighs a whopping six pounds, six ounces! He cannot wear any of his cute little outfits yet, but I know he will have outgrown them before I know it. I have given up dairy for a while to help his little tummy and things are going better since then. This week he has been sleeping about five to six hours at night, which has been wonderful! Chad gives him a late night bottle of breast milk around 11:30 and then puts him back to sleep and he has been sleeping until around 6:30. We are so proud!! I can function so much better the next day, too. We even went to lunch with my girlfriends and all their babies today for Val's birthday. Although, it was a struggle to get out of the door on time, we enjoyed our lunch date with our friends. I will try to keep post again soon as I grow into mommyhood and get better at managing our time. Much love and graditude to all of you!

Finally starting to grow

Noah had his pediatrician visit today and it went well. He's up to 6lb 6oz and 20 1/2 inches long. Yeah! His circumcision looked good so we get to stop doing the vaseline and 4X4 thing. She did hear a slight murmur when listening to his heart. She said it was slight and she almost missed it. She said slight murmurs were common enough at this age and no big deal, but she wants to see us in 2 weeks to listen again. She said it was CYA protocol with any murmur, but if she thought it was serious she'd schedule tests now. Keep your fingers crossed.

The past 2 nights, Noah has decided this whole "sleep" thing he's been practicing lately was merely a suggestion not a rule. He only slept a couple of hours Sat and none last night. The pediatrician thinks its something in Jenna's diet so she's having her cut out dairy and juice for now to see if it helps. I don't know what Jenna will do without her cereal. The girl lives on Honey Bunches o'Oats. So far it has worked he's slept all night up to now, but it's early. He's probably saving up his energy til I go to sleep and then he'll unleash bedlam :)

Thank heaven for little boys.

This sequence of events was more than I could keep to myself so I'm sharing it with you. So far Noah has yet to indoctrinate me into the world of little boys by wizzing in the middle of a diaper change. So far he has gotten his Mommy 6 times and Magga twice. Now before you say anything, I've done my share of diaper changes so that's not the reason.

Today Jenna wanted to give him a bath before his uncle Jared got here to meet him. So she undressed him and...he started spraying like he was trying out for a lawn sprinkler team. We had a giggle then I cleaned up while he went off for his bath. When he was done Jenna had him wrapped up in his towel and he was shivering a little. She sat down and started rocking him to warm him up before dressing him and then we heard an explosion. "He didn't," was all Jenna could say as she looked at me. Well... he did. We got him over to the changing table and Jenna cleaned him while I took charge of the towel. I started a load of his laundry with the towel as the main attraction and then started walking back to his room and heard, "NOAH!!!!!" I ran in there to see her holding his new diaper over him while he demonstrated yet again that he would make a good lawn sprinkler.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Happy day to all the mother's I know and have :) Jenna has had a bittersweet Mother's Day so far. She loves the card and necklace Noah got her and she knows it's special to be a mother. She's also sad because her mother left this morning after being here for 10 days. It was hard to say goodbye, but my mother will be here this afternoon to help her the next week so we'll have more family here. I know everyone thinks we're tired of visitors but I swear we're not. We love our families and friends so much and are so proud of our baby boy.

My first post

First I want to say a big PHEW! Am I glad things have settled down. In case you haven't been paying attention, I was born on Monday. I say it like Daddy took out the trash. It was slightly more complicated than that but I know most of you know it because Daddy did his best to keep everyone informed. Today has been the best day yet of my life.

First and most importantly, Mommy's milk finally came in. Mommy and Daddy did a little dance in the floor. Actually Daddy did a dance and Mommy gave him a weird look like he had lost his mind or something. Mommy told me I need to get used to that look because she makes it a lot. Anyways, my belly is full so I have finally been able to get some rest. In the beginning it was hard because so many people kept holding me and sharing their love. It was really nice to know you are loved by so many people. Since I've been home though I've just been hungry. They kept putting this syringe in my mouth and shootin this stuff in but there's nothing like a belly full of milk. I took at least 3 naps today of 2 hours. The best thing is they keep waking me up and giving me more. It's like I won the lottery or something. I'm hoping I finally can get some sleep tonight since I've kept everyone up the past few nights. I kind of felt bad about it, but Daddy told me it makes a good story he can tell when I become a Daddy.

I didn't know I was coming into such a big family. Apparently I've got 3 siblings of the canine variety. The big dark one they call Bogey; he and I aren't sure about each other yet. I can tell he wants to sniff me but he seems kind of scared. The light colored one , Vader, kind of scares me because he isn't scared of me at all. He just wants to lick me and see what I'm doing. Then there is my shadow. Momma calls her Callie but Daddy calls her Chocolate Mama. She follows me around wherever I go, and when I cry she whines with me to make me feel better. I think they are starting to realize I'm not going away because tonight Daddy put me in my swing on the floor and left me there with the doggies and they just left me alone. Daddy called it 'acceptance,' whatever that means.

Mommy is doing a lot better today. She went to the doctor this morning and had her staples taken out. She is walking a lot more like everyone else now. When I first met her she walked kind of funny and slow, but now she's moving much faster. She's getting up and down a lot better to. Daddy called her a trooper, but I don't think she works for the police department or anything.

I got new clothes today also!!! Apparently I was a lot smaller than Mommy and Daddy had anticipated. Daddy said the baby pool was wrecked. They have a lot of clothes for me but everything just fell off. They went today and got some premie clothes. Daddy said I was the first premie that was late in the history of the world. Somehow I think he's overstating things a bit. At least they finally have me in some cute clothes. My self image was beginning to suffer.

I really want to thank everyone whose came to visit, called Momma and Daddy, visited this site, or just sent their prayers my way. I didn't know it was possible for so many to love a person they'd never met, but it has been overwhelming how you've all came to my side. Thanks for being there for Momma too since she's had a rough few days getting me here. She worked real hard to keep me healthy while she was growin me and she did her best to keep me calm and relaxed while they were trying to bring me into the world. I really love having her for my Momma. I think God did a good job of pickin when he picked her.

I can't wait to meet you all!!!

Love,
Noah
